«Youth In Revolt»: Review

Youth In Revolt is the story of Nick Twisp (Micahel Cera), a 16 years old boy which is capable of doing anything just to get Sheeni Saunders' (Portia Doubleday) heart, the girl that he is in love with. The teenager in love creates in his mind the bad version of him (just like Sheeni wants) and he starts to act like this: tough, insensible and revolted. All his actions scare his parents but he doesn`t care. All he wants is to be with Sheeni and to loose his virginity with her. Talking bad with his parents, setting his mother's car on fire, trying to get his lover expelled by asking her roommate to put a pill in her drink to get her asleep are some of the things he does in order to conquer the girl. But when Sheeni finds out that he was drugging her she doesn`t want to see him again. The end of the movie is half happy: Nick comes to Sheeni`s place dressed up as a woman (his disguise to not be caught by police) and she gets her back… but he gets arrested and goes to jail for three months.

Youth In Revolt is more then a teenage movie, is the movie of the growing up of a lonely and confused boy.
